Bill At 50Km/hr in a speed controlled zone in Calgary (that's about 30mph for you guys down south), I took a bend in the road in my syncro, felt it lose grip for a moment before it got traction again - made the heart jump a bit anyway.

I looked in my rear view mirror and the guy in the pick up truck behind me was almost sideways.

I've done some journeys in scary conditions (cars following snowploughs whereas I just drive straight past the lot of them) where the basic added safety/control has left me in no doubt about the value of the syncro.

All this and we haven't even got into the fun you can have with the extra traction. If you ever do any towing up logging roads etc. then the 2WD will not cut it.

I think the most expensive thing to fix on these can be the tranny, but it needn't be a new one - they can be re-built (there is some weakness with 3rd/4th shift I believe).

Deepak '87 syncro

ps this isn't an ad, but I may have to sell mine this year if I work overseas !
