I'm pretty sure that CV joints of the style used in VW are "Rezeppa"
style joints, which were invented in the 30's or earlier, and not by
Porsche. I think (I am probably wrong here) that they were first used
on the Cord automobile. Besides, VW's have used CV joints from the
beginning, it's just that they used to use only two of them.
