On the Carello H-4's that I installed there was a BIG rubber boot that covered the entire bulb-socket. There were three slits in the back of the boot that lined-up with the three prongs on the back of an H-4 bulb. This provides a very effective weather seal. I know that Bosch also uses this sort of arraingement on their round H-4's.
