Think about it..... A 1988 Vanagon Dehler conversion (German high end conversion, has even got a shower inside), auto, power everything, loaded, and - 3.2L WBX 6 Oettinger, just under 10k$. Can you afford to spend $10K on something you know you shouldn't drive very often? Can you afford NOT to grab at something this rare? I haven't heard about Oettinger 6 cylinder wasserboxers in I don't know how long, I wish I had the money and the opportunity. No different than buying any other exotic. Can you live with expensive or non-existent parts, and the fact that you cannot put the kind of miles on it that you would put on a Vanagon daily driver? If you can spare the 10 g's then go for it. If not, try to get it into your circle of VW friends; Then you can at least visit it, know it's being taken care of, maybe even drive it! Perhaps buy it at a later date from your friend. Good Luck Mike. I hope you can manage it. Doug Jones |
