I'm with Larry--
Chris, et al; there is nothing funny about blatantly ignoring the law,
blinding people with your headlights, tailgating, or driving at breakneck
speeds on roadways you share with other humans. I am sick of this type of
behavior, and won't quietly listen to your school-girlish chortles about
how cute you think it is. The driving behavior you describe is unfriendly,
inconsiderate, and dangerous.
Highways aren't playgrounds, vehicles aren't toys, and driving isn't a
competitive sport. Other cars on the highway contain PEOPLE; real, live,
friendly, humans. People with families, and lives. How will you feel if
your unprofessional driving hurts or kills someone? It doesn't take much.
In the past 18 years I have totaled five cars and been sent to the hospital
twice...but have never been charged in any of these accidents. The fault
has always rested on some foolish, arrogant, selfish driver who is willing
to risk MY FAMILY'S safety for his or her "driving freedom", like they have
some God-given right to endanger other people once they get behind the
wheel. Like driving 90 mph in a $500 vehicle fresh from the scrap yard. How
stupid.
As of October of last year, when an arrogant, speeding driver intentionally
forced my wife and I from the roadway, we have begun reporting ALL
careless/reckless/aggressive driving to the SHP. Most states we travel in
(East coast) have a three digit cell number just for this purpose. Troopers
tend to have the person on the side of the road within 10-15 miles of a
call.
If any of you are sick of this type of childish behavior that ends up
killing other people, call your highway patrol today, and find out the cell
number for reporting. It takes less than 30 second to call, and all they
need is some portion of the license plate, the direction of travel, the
mile marker where you saw the person, and some basic description of the
car. It is anonymous (in the states where I have called).
Happy motoring. Drive friendly, the Texas way.
