I recently upgraded the halogon lights in my Toyota 4Runner to these new "high output" lights. The improvement in light was noticeable and along the lines of the light comparison slides that are provided on the web page that you referenced. IMO it was worth the $22 that I spent on the high output lights.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think these particular lights can be used as a direct replacement for the square or round vanagon lights. These are sealed beam lights, and the lighting improvement is from both the HO bulb and a redesigned lens, so you can't replace the bulb by itself. If anyone knows whether or not you can replace a vanagon square headlight with a standard sealed beam H6054 headlight without any mounting bracket or similar modifications I would certainly like to hear about that. If you can and there are no other issues that I should be concerned about, I would certainly plan on getting a set for my Westy since it would be a cheap and legal way of improving my nighttime visibility.
