If it was a 6mm allen head, you may try to hammer in an 8mm multipoint socket and then put the ratchet on it and successfully loosen it. Got that hint from my mechanic and it worked for me. By the way, if you're in there you may want to consider replacing all this allen head bolts with 8mm multipoint bolts. They're really supperior.
