Subject: headlight switch
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi all, I thought I would post an observation I recently made concerning the headlight switch. For some unknown reason, the instrument light dimmer on my headlight switch had been positioned so that the dashlights were off. I didn't notice this because it was initially during daylight driving towards the end of an afternoon trip. As it got darker, I noticed the instrument lights were not on and I started to move the control wheel so that the lights would be on. The switch was very hot to the touch, I don't know if there was any melting but I will check it. It cooled down after "undimming" and hasn't overheated again. Now I make sure that the switch is in the "full-brightness" position. I don't know if this is "normal vanagon" behavior for the switch, but it seemed way too hot to me.
