Last time I checked, Montana had appox. 5000 miles of Interstate highways criss-crossing the landscape. At any given time, there is a total of 5 (yes, FIVE) state police vehicles patrolling these roads.

In 2.5 years of living in Montana (and 2.5 weeks of missing it here in Western Washington), I saw the state police out on the highway maybe 5 or 6 times.

But hey, we have until May 28th. Let's get a Vanagon "One Lap of Montana" together for May 15th. Start in Kalispell, south to Missoula, east to Miles City, via the "B"s (Butte, Bozeman, Billings). Then northwest to Great Falls, and southwest to Helena. By my calculations about 1200-1300 miles or so. Kinda like an IronButt rally but with less leather. We can do it!
