Hi

First of all, thanks to all who replied to my message about the oil light and buzzer coming on on my '88 Westy. Much appreciated!

From the articles on the vanagon.com website (http://www.vanagon.com/problems/) I was able to make an educated guess that my problem was with the oil pressure switch and/or wire connection to it near the oil/water pump. The trick was that I you can get to the switch much easier if you remove the pully from the water pump! Ahhh, once that's out of the way you can easily remove the switch with at 24mm deep socket. $17.00 later with a new switch installed, the problem has gone away!

There are apparently a number of different switches, all with different colors to indicate their pressure specs. I used a gray switch which was rated a bit lower than the original. I think the parts guy at the dealer said it was also the switch for a turbo diesel of some kind or another.

Thanks again to all who responded with good questions and suggestions!
