Seeing as how my '88 westy was leaking its life away, I couldn't pass up a sweet deal last month on an A3 Jetta 2.0 L 8v. Now that my mechanic and I are getting serious about the conversion, it appears that we'll have to switch out the Motronic FI to fit beneath the deck lid. Financially this doesn't bother me as my parts supplier for the whole swap has offered a straight across trade for a Digifant package. Since my education in VW Fuel Injection systems is downright lousy, can someone help explain to me what swapping for Digifant will involve and ultimately mean to me.

BTW here are my mechanics reasons for the swap: -Digifant will allow the A3 motor to fit below the deck lid. -Digifant is easier to wire up (in his experience). -Digifant will be simpler for me to work on in the future. -The parts are readily available around Seattle. -I'll have my van back sooner, and I'll never know the difference (got that right).

Thanks, Mark Drovdahl '88 Westy '98 Jetta - Motor only
