For those thinking about the five speed swap here are some MPH ranges for my 5 speed with my engine The following is the APPROXIMATELY effective MPH range for the five speed European tranny with a .70 Fifth gear Minimum RPMS @2000 to max @5600 First 0-20 (RPMS idle to 5600) Second 10-40 Third 25-55 Fourth 35-80 YES (I had it to 75 MPH Today @5000RPMs @ 25% throttle) Fifth 50-??? My RPMs @70 are 3200 RPMs (Pulls OK from 50 on flat road if hilly I keep it in fourth until 60 MPH) IMHO If the area that you live in has hills and mountains I would go with a .77 fifth if you increase the engine power. If not and it is hilly keep the stock .85 or .82 gearing. Robert Still working on web...
