Nice piece! The 'sheep' analogy extends most goods sold to this consumer society. We fail to recognize advertising for the disingenuous and fact impoverished agenda it is. Much of its effect and affect is subtle, and we do not have full awareness of the ways advertising steers our buying. We want to be our own independent selves, but the reality, at least in corporate eyes and because a discerning shopper is their nemesis, is the flock needs shepherding. -Dana- > Summary-- Using brainwashing fear tactics, SUV marketers are suckering the > public into buying expensive, dangerous, environmentally-unfriendly > vehicles that far exceed nearly any driver's REAL needs. > |
