I also have an 84' wolfsburg with that blue corduroy material.  It has
105,000 miles now.  The front seats only have one small rip in them.  Not to
bad of shape.  I paid a bit more than $1000 though.  Got ripped off actually
but, there aren't a lot of vanagons in the Appleton area.  Just my two
cents.
