It isn't so much of a leakage issue, but one of livability and convenience-- when using the pop top in rainy weather. The 84 Camper owner's manual provides the following helpful advice: "to prevent mildew from forming on the flocking and the canvas of the pop-top, the roof should never be closed when wet." That's kinda tough if it's been pouring all night and you wanna get moving to your next destination. The options are: 1. You can wait for it to stop raining... (sometimes a long wait) Then wait for things to dry out... 2. You can ignore the advice, get mildew, get mildew smell, and watch the mildew wreck what was once good-as-new canvas. Of course replacement canvas is just a few hundred bucks. ;-/ 3. You can avoid the problem, keep the canvas dry the whole time, close the top under the protector, pull the wet protector off, and motor on, dryly.

Then again, some Westy owners regularly garage their vehicles and they rarely if ever see rain. Guess that's another option, if the sun ain't shinin' -- stay home...

...Still campin' in the wet stuff. -Brian Original 84 canvas like new
