Subject: got the key!!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I want to thank all of you that answered my question about getting a key for a keyless lock. I got deluged with answers and a few good stories. I guess I should have known this one after being on the list for the last couple of years but I havn't ever had the need. Anyway I got a key and the Vanagon fired up and almost got half way home before I decided the knock I was hearing wasn't just collapsed lifters. Towed it the rest of the way. I'm thinking maybe a rod bearing or a bent pushrod (they can sound as bad as a bad rod), I have to check it out. At least I got it cheap!! -- Todd Francis Ridgefield, Washington USA '86 Westy Syncro '91 Tristar '87 syncro (with new key)
