I'd post more about replacing the clip, blah, blah, blah, but you guys did a good job responding and I'd just be repeating what you said. However, I'd replace the stud with a new one from Mr. VW and wouldn't use RTV on the gaskets. I'd use Loctite #518 instead. And, Tom, its 10 bolts not 8 that hold the bellhousing on!
