A lightened flywheel is not desired when you want torque. You boxer is not disigned for high revvs. When I had my boxer it would always cut out at aprox 5500 RPM which I find can be dangerous in emmergency situations.

Want a high revving engine? Install a 2.0L 8V 4 banger. I take mine to 6500 RPM every now and again to make sure there is no carbon on the valves! They love high RPMs. The only problem is that after about 5500 RPM the power begins to fall off with the stock cam. A longer duration higher lift cam will fix that problem, but you will loose bottom end power if you get too carried away. The Audi 5 cylinders will rev higher than your boxer but they really start to make just noise after 5000 rpm instead of power. BIG bucks for Audi cams!
