Subject: Audi turbo 15" alloy wheels on a Vanagon
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

no flames, please. ET go home!!!! ;<) ive done this too on my '87 non-syncro. go to : http://www.enter.net/~bloss/vw/turner/

and scroll down. any audi 5000 turbo, or 200 turbo alloy wheels will fit. they are 15" and the same bolt pattern as the vanagon. FWIW, also the new ('98 up) Passat 15"wheels will fit, as well as the Audi A4 and A6 wheels. <--- they're 16" ;<)

i had the center hub hole of my wheels machined about a hair over 2.5" dia. i had them machined at a local shop for $10 each. then i got some thin wheel spacers for the fronts. ( i only used spacers on the fronts, you dont need spacers on the rear) i used regular audi 5000 lug bolts for the fronts, which i got for free. (these will substitute for Carat alloy front lug bolts too, FWIW) i got elongated rear studs for the back wheels, from a local Porsche shop. i took off those stupid 2 bolts that hold the drum on the back wheels. (they serve no purpose) in the pictures i was running 205-60-15's (tires that were on the audi, which were practically new) but i will go larger. FWIW, the 205 60's sit at the same height as the Carat alloys do, and handle just as well. but i will move to a larger size.

for center caps, i used the Carat alloy center cap.

chris
