In South Carolina and in Tennessee, we take 'um off and pitch the darn things. A straight piece of pipe replaces them nicely and being as we have no vehicle inspections we get no hassles from inspectors. We also get away from the newer combination of gas conversions that is about as bad as the originals the government (in all it's finite wisdom) was trying to correct. Yep, its legal here!
