Nope, you are not alone. I especially enjoy finding a Westy in a parking lot; peaking inside to see what they have done with theirs; looking for ideas I can rip-off. Sometimes during this investigation the owners arrive. Encounters usually begin with suspicions about what this guy (me) is doing skulking around their van but always end with us comparing notes, swapping ideas, and poking around in the nooks and crannies of each other's Westies while our respective wives sit inside discussing the level of forbearance necessary to be married such fanatics. A good time is had by all. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf Of Pollard, Matthew Sent: Fri, March 12, 1999 12:03 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject:
Am I alone on this: when I am driving my bus or bug, & I see an oncoming vanagon I check it out, similar to how a guy will check out a chick, I mean, woman. I try to determine the type (syncro, westy, gl, etc), year, anything cool about it, and most of all, make eye contact with the driver and give them a thumbs-up or a peace sign. On the open road, all vanagons wave back, but in town, it is about 1 out of 15 or 20 that wave back. That's the bay area for you. back to the grind -Matthew jelly legs p.s., I'm doing my part, I biked to work today. 16 miles ( uphill both ways, with 12 feet of snow. ) |
