funny this should come up ... the reason i even got into vw buses was a breadloaf 'in uniform' ... when i was overseas, the Aussies had a contingent of troops near us, over by a place on the coast called Vung Tau,and they ran round in our area in a 1968 vw bus, in army colours. :) of course, the steering and sliding door was backwards ;) but it seemed like such a neat idea. i'd been horrified when vw changed the bus in 1968, but after two years of seeing this Aussie bus running around, i decided it wasn't such a bad look after all. so when i got out of the army, straight to the vw dealer i went ... and came away with my first bus, a 1971 blue/white 7-passenger. :) ol' Blue Goose. haven't been able to live without the damned things since. :( unca joel (currently suffering under a double dose of Vanagonitis) |
