I've measured, the Optima does *not* fit in the starter battery box of my 90 Westy Syncro. It will, however, fit in the auxiliary battery box under the driver's seat if you lay it on it's side (side post model) and cut a couple of slots for the top posts. That's what I have done for my auxiliary batter.
