If your low on funds, don't drive a syncro. hah hah.

The ultra-low budget minded person with too much time on their hands would take the front axles out, leaving the outer CV housings intact, to support the wheel bearing. This will solve your driveline problem and save you gas, at the cost of traction you probably don't need anyway to get to work.
