Volks -

I'm finally off to Atlanta Saturday to pick up the '87 Westy and drive it back to Idaho. I have gotten lots of good advice and ideas from the list, and I want to thank all of you who have written.

The mechanic in Atlanta apparently had fits getting things unbolted so he could put a new CV boot on, and had to build a new cable for the defrost slide switch, but he said the fuel lines looked good, the rear brakes are fixed, and everything else is ready to go.

Now I just need to put 2700 trouble-free miles on the blue beast and get back to Moscow. I hope I can send in a pleasantly boring trip report on the 21st.

It's funny, we did 3 weeks in Europe with less luggage than I am taking for this trip, but then I didn't have to pack tire chains, camping gear, a Bentley and a tool kit!

We are just beginning to have nice days out here, so I am starting to have more people looking at the '83. Now if I can just find a nice home for her!

I'll get back to you in 10 days or so.

Mike Finkbiner '87 Westy (still in Atlanta) '83.5 Westy (still for sale)
