Subject: Phred's not feeling too well...

My '88 Wolfsburg, Phred, seems to be a bit under the weather. Nothing major, kinda like a cold that will not go away. The symptons: terrible fuel milage! The background: I drive Phred, on average, twenty miles each way to work, most of that at 60mph+ on the interstates around Rochester. The last four times I've filled up with fuel, I've calculated the mpg and I gotta say it's terrible - average for four tanks full is 11mpg! What I'd like from the list: Suggestions. It's still tongue-frozen-to-a-flag-pole cold here - not to mention there's still four feet of snow on the ground. So as the weather breaks, I plan on changing the plugs, wires, and other assorted tune-up parts. If there's something else I should consider, I'd sure like to hear about it.

Oh, one other thing - the OXS light on the dash glows a bit. Not full on - you can only see it at night with the lights off - so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

As always, thank you for your help and patience.

Alan Bosch Phred ('88 Wolfsburg) - scrawney younger brother to Phast...
