Subject: Engine Swap Madness...

If you go to this page http://www.volkswagen.org/ then click on "Engine Swaps"

You will get a list of most VW engine specs. If you look at the stock HP and torque the engines output, you will see that in the engines differ little in the HP and torque from the Wasserboxer and often have slightly more HP but LESS torque. Add one $160 coating to the heads for corrosion preventive, and a different profile on the cam and you will have as much HP and torque as many so called "Replacement" inline engines (which you will spend a small fortune of ANY type of hop up part) plus no "modifying the van to fit an engine."

I have been told that "The Vanagon is a people mover and If you want to go fast, get another type of vehicle -- an American one,,,"

Bottom line, what I did to my engine cost less than the engine swapping would cost plus NEEDED hop up parts to make it work...

Robert
