folks,

thanks for the advice about the cv joints, and gear oil suggestions. i got the van back on the road today, with new cv's, fresh clean gear oil, and a quart of automatic transmission oil in the crankcase, slowly loosening up an intermittently sticky lifter (i hope). (i'll change the oil next week)

the van ran great when i put it on the jackstands last week. today (after the work mentioned above) i noticed that the van began to hesitate and loose power at low rpm's AFTER the van warms up (seems fine when cold). i can usually push through it by stepping on the gas, and it's fine on the highway. could this possibly be related to any of the work i did over the past week? this is difficult to believe, as i never once opened the engine compartment during all of this. yet...some coincidence! perchance i've jiggled some wire loose by accident? everything looked ok upon brief inspection (inc. the o2 sensor, less than one year old).

it's not been TOO long since the last tune up, and the fuel filter is too new to be suspect. i fear another one of those obscure digafant glitches. for now, i'm going to give it a few days, and hope the problem disappears as quickly and quietly as it appeared (or at least try to get a better fix on the symptoms). in the meantime, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

by the way, bently calls for 3.2 quarts of gear oil for a refill (1.5 supposedly cannot be drained) but i ended up putting in 4 on the nose before it started to drain from the fill plug. is this typical?

for now...
