I think the wave response factor is relative to the congestion of the road traveled. I always wave when I notice other Vanagons, but on the highway in Denver during rush hour, I try to focus myself on not killing anyone and not so much on spotting other enlightened souls. And those other drivers do SO seem to want to be killed...

I check out about every VW and Audi that drives past me... the newer VWs are a little boring to me but the classic pre 93 stuff I certainly check out. I have VW owners check me out. It is quite neet to find that another Syncro singles you out in a parking lot and parks next to me or as close as next to as possible.

Waving brings mixed results. Most people are WAY too serious and don't wave back. Sometime I get a decent wave though!
