I bought a K&N filter (E-2475) for my Syncro to replace the Big Syncro Heavy Duty Table Top Conversation Piece type filter that was in it. When I ordered it I specifically asked if it was for the Syncro Vanagon and was assured it was. However, upon recieving it, it was sized for the standard Vanagon filter- round -about 6.5 inches in diameter by 3.5 incher high. Now, the Syncro Heavy duty filter is an oblong 10 x 7.25 inches shape by 3.5 inches high and has pleats of filter paper that are about1.375 inches wide as opposed to the K&N‘s pleats that are about 1 inch wide. Also there are about 3 pleats per inch on the K&N and about 7 pleats per inch on the Syncro HD filter. So, I think that the K&N probably has better air flow, but I would bet that the stock Syncro HD filter filters better, maybe not for as long, but better than the K&N. And maybe even it has more flow due to more surface area. Anyway I am going to get in touch with K&N and ask if they could better fit the airbox like th Syncro HD filter with something else, meanwhile I’m still using the HD filter which is actually very good. -Raúl Cisneros 86 Syncro GL 87 Syncro Westy |
