My concern is whether you are putting good grease on top of bad and can you
effectively get the new grease into those balls and inner cage? I saw a
tool once that fit over the cv flange with a fitting on it thatforced the
old grease out one side and the new in onthe flange side, but that requires
removing the half shafts, but not removing the cv's from their shafts. If
you go that far on unknown cv joints, you may as well take them apart,
right? I'm driving around on a couple of black balls as we speak. When the
cash cow comes, we'll replace. Tell Dick Clark and Ed McMahaon I haven't
moved since my last mailing+ACEAIQ-

+AD4-Another thing you have to look out for is that the boot can develop a
+AD4-fracture in the needle puncture site. Movement and flexing can produce a
+AD4-broken boot in the future, how long?, have no idea (too many imponderables)
+AD4-but have experience this in the past.

+AD4APg-I was speculating earlier in the month about getting grease into my old
but
+AD4APg-sound CV boots. Well Sunday I was wasting some time in a small Canadian
+AD4-tire
+AD4APg-store while my wife visited her aunt in the hospital.... and I found one
+AD4APg-heck of a neat tool.... it's called a grease needle. Looks like a large
+AD4-size
+AD4APg-needle with a grease fitting on the end. Well I bought a few tubes of CV
+AD4APg-grease and injected grease into every boot I could find..... Here's the
+AD4-good
+AD4APg-news....My CV's (all 8 on a Syncro) are much smoother, and make very
little
+AD4APg-road noise now..... Here's even more good news..... back on the
+AD4-transmission
+AD4APg-are two boots, that cover the shift rod bushing. I have been having
+AD4-problems
+AD4APg-finding 1st sometimes, the gear works find, just finding it is some what
+AD4APg-vague.... well now... it's very clearly defined. I really filled those
+AD4-boots
+AD4APg-up, so they expanded and covered the whole area they can cover (they had,
+AD4APg-kind of, collapsed and some shift rod surface was exposed, I actually did
+AD4-it
+AD4APg-3 times, each time adding more until they were full and until I got the
+AD4-best
+AD4APg-response)......You ready?.... some more good news....the Tie rod ends +ACY-
+AD4-ball
+AD4APg-joints, both got a few shots.... Now the whole front end seems a bit
+AD4APg-smoother... I've always wondered why there were very few grease nipples on
+AD4APg-the moving parts on this van???? Well now you can make your own on any
+AD4APg-equipment that has a boot. You will be injecting clean grease without
+AD4-having
+AD4APg-to open or disturb anything....One thing you do have to be careful of,
+AD4-these
+AD4APg-needles are delicate, don't go ruff housing around with them, or you could
+AD4APg-break it off in your joint....ooh that hurts just saying it :+AF4-)
