VW have been building Diesel vans from 1976 to date, the first being the big LT van. The Vanagon was built with a diesel engine from 1981 to end of production, and the Eurovan have always been available with diesel engines. The catch is that the diesel Vanagons offered in the US were 1982-1983 only, and has never been offered since. The LT is not offered in the US either, and the diesel Eurovans are non-US too.
