The 5 Cyl. conversions are since 1985 in Germany installt. Depending how the 5 Cyl.conversion is made it will last for ever. when the Vanagon with his engine unit get good maintenance and in the first 7000 miles a special care for the conversion related units (Engine , Tranny , Fuelsupply and Cooling system). The goal for the 5 Cyl. is that a engine made to pull heavy vehicles so it will not wear out that much. The power developement of the 5 Cyl. will not harm the transmission because of the smooth and even torque curve what this engine produce. But if any one is out there who like to go crazy he can choose with this engine up to 220 hp.Every Thing is possible and we do not end at the 115 hp mark like the 4 Cyl. we start there. So if any one spend money think twice and look in the future maybe you like to get more power even when it's not needed there are a lot of possibles with the 5 Cyl. kit for a little money later you can get a lot of power more.
