Dear Ari:
        I recently placed a question on the Vanagon Mail List. You answered with the
correct answer to my problem about oil being blown out through the oil filler
tube.
Upon first inspection of the oil breather hose I could see no signs of a
problem.
My leak worsened, I got nervous and followed your suggestion.
        My hose had deteriorated on the inside and blocked the venting of the
crankcase.
I replaced the hose and this problem is resolved.
        I thank you for your time and knowledge. I hope others who read a problem
from a listee will share their information. I fear that a mechanic may not
suspect such an easy remedy and I would have a huge bill to pay for the
typical hit and miss and have the customer pay for learning time.
