Matthew, just ease up on the gas pedal a little bit the next time you take off from a stop sign! Seriously, I would bet you just need to tighten up the belts a bit. I have personally never heard a clutch scream, and I've driven an old Mazda with a worn out clutch for 6 months, it was hard to acclerate this old wagon.
