Paul,

Turn the shoe adjusters all the way down, your drum might have a ridge that is preventing the removel.

Try heating the drum with a propane torch. My drums were stuck and no amount of hitting would remove them(I was also doing this at night and the ringing was loud in the quiet night). I them fired up my propane torch and after a few seconds of heat they came right off with no banging. Use heavy gloves to avoid burns with hot drum.

New drums are @$50 from Bus Depot
