Subject: 91 Vanagon Bucking & Digitool reading
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Hello y'all, My beloved westy has coughed up another electrical problem to keep my attention on her. I had just finished figuring out my "old" problem (a few weeks ago) when this problem started out of the blue this weekend. The problem: AFTER warm up (everything is fine until needle starts to move), holding a speed results in sudden loss of power which a bit more throttle kicks the power in again. Or no throttle position change results in bucking. Thought it might be the AFM wiper losing contact but it is newer, and looks great. Also, my digitool (I love this thing!) shows the problem: Fuel injection LED clearly shows the injectors go off with each power loss (in neutral or driving the RPMs just drop as if the throttle was let up). So does the AFM have control of the injectors like this? The throttle position switch/light does not show any malfunction. What else might it be? TIA Nat Seattle
