A glow red in the exhaust system is a very good sign of to much fuel in the fuel/air mixture. What reason did you have for punching out the cat.? The lack of a Cat. will have no effect on a motor with a completely closed up exhaust. You obviouly have a fuel system problem. This is exactly the type of work the EPA is trying to prevent.
