Subject: 84 Wolfy-Gas in Oil & oil light intermittent & stutter*long*
Content-type: text/plain

Hello fellow listies,

I have a slight problem. I have gas in my oil. I read a post awhile ago about if the van has been sitting for some time that this will happen and to just do an oil change. This van sat for 4 months before I purchased it. I have driven it for over 1500miles since I've boughten it with only the stutter problem and once the oil light came on during a huge thunder storm but quickly faded away. Now tonight there was a huge snow/slush strom in NH and I drove back to VT about 140 miles or so. The oil light came on about four times but everytime it would just slowly fade away...so I figured the sensor wires are getting wet??? Does this seem valid?

So once I was in an area where there was actually a gas station I stopped to check my oil and I smelt it because I had read that post earlier and sure enough it reaks like gas. I use 93 octane and have not changed the oil since I bought the van a month ago. Sussposidly the oil was changed recently but maybe the guy ment milage wise it was changed recently and then it sat. The oil looks much darker and dirtier than it did when I bought the van could this be due to gas?

Ok now the kicker questions...could this gas in the oil make the van stutter at times...or kinda slow it down some? Or could the oil sensor do this? Also what causes gas to get into the oil?? Is this able to be fixed? I would seriously appreciat any help with this..

Thank you Tim Gardner
