If you park you van infront of a wall and turn on the low beams, you will notice that there is a very sharp horizontal cut-off to the left and to the right there is a very sharp 30 degree above the horizontal cut off. The "bend" is where the horizontal cut off turns into the horizonal + 30 deg cut off. You see it when you do it.
