I think the 5w30 is too light for this time of year. From March thru December I use 15w50. I haven't decided what's best for the coldest months (Jan & Feb here). One winter I left the 15w50 in but there were some mornings when the engine was slow to turn over and didn't want to maintain idle at 1000 rpm. This last winter I used 0w30. Never had a problem with sluggish turnover, but that "0" sure made me nervous, even though I don't do any long highway trips in Jan & Feb. I think next winter I'll use 5w30. Seems a waste of money to use a winter oil for just 2 months, but then these vanagons seem to need a bit of TLC, n'est ce pas? ------------------------------------------------------------ Fred 91 GL |
