Christy, that flue is for the refrigerator. The stove exhausts to the inside of the van. It sounds to me as though you simply have a cover over the hole in the side of the van -- what should be there is a vented stainless cap which covers the combustion air inlet and exhaust from the reefer. This is a very specific piece of gear, and the refrigerator is approved for safety only with this exact fitting (gas only, 12v or 110 needs no venting). I can get more specific if you need it -- for a start, the refrigerator is a Dometic RM182B. Made in Belgium, but Dometic is a US company. I think this model was made specifically for the Westy -- the reefer manual shows a Westy installation. david At 00:57 3/29/99 -0500, you wrote: >On my 84 westy my 'flu' (is that the right term?) is covered completely with a >sort of hard rubber black cover with one philips screw in the middle (so no >water can get in, I guess). >I understand that when I use my stove (I haven't ever used it so far) I need >to remove this, and the other westy's I've seen have a cover with vents in it >(I think...). > >What's the deal? > >Peace, > Kristin <--who's heading for Joshua Tree in the morning... :o) |
