Subject:      spray painting black plastic exterior parts?

I just received two new bumper endcaps (shameless plug: from the bus depot).
They are a bright shinny black and will look out of place on my rig.
Someone mentioned (6 months ago) about spray painting their grill to look
new.  How has this held up?  What type of paint (gloss, flat, satin).  Will
this painting cause the plastic to crack easily? Any advice or comments from
the peanut gallery is appreciated. And no, I will not trade my new ones for
your old faded ones!  Any pointers to installing them is appreciated too.
