I installed a trailer light plug in my Double Cab last summer. What I did is go to the junk yard and got the plugs that go into the tail lights with 20cm of wire still attached to them. I used these plugs as extensions to the existing wires in the van by solding spade connectors to the ends of the wires. I hate cutting any factory wires so I spliced into the extension that I built. To make sure everything was tight I used white grease and duct tape to seal the spade connectors. If you do it this way you can always return it to the original factory condition.
