Well, open my eyes! Thought those rear view Fresnel thingys were only for looking down, WAY DOWN, like from a 36' high RV rear window. Should have gotten one anyway after my son added a Z turn in the rear bumper. (Have front bumper metal to trade for rear metal.) But to look UP! Cars, trucks, horizons, birds, the whole state of Vermont... AND mirror enhancements!

To summarize the excellent suggestions: will rush over to RV place for a rear-viewer Fresnel thingy, VW-only wrecking yard (in Roseville?!) for long mount westy mirror, and FLAPS for a windshield mount rear view mirror and outside mirror stick-ons. A whole new level of awareness....driving down the road looking back at the clouds, distant rear traffic, and a bent rear bumper.
