no vanagon content... But if you have ever hiked Half Dome, the bathrooms at Little Yosemite Valley work on the same idea. Bacteria is dumped into the toilet vaults, and through the use of sun and heat (provided by warm water from panels on the roof) the poop is degraded. Some unfortunate soul has to take this 'compost' and shovel it into 5 gallon buckets and mule-pack it out every two weeks. Yucky. The so-called compost is then safe for landfill without any further treatment.

These $30,000 outhouses are also in use on Mt. Whitney (The most hiked trail in North America!) and other heavy use remote areas.
