jim, i just put H-4 headlights {the rectangle low beams] on my syncro....david
marshall imports them from germany. I have been working on my van this past
month so haven't had the chance to really test the lights. i took a quick run
through golden gate park the other night, but even there there are street
lights...so i did not get into any real dark areas. What i did notice is that
the H-4s illuminate much more of the road with an even spread of light with
sharp cut-offs. i switched the lights completely off on one darker section of
road. These lights definitely provide a larger and more uniform sheet of
light than the undifferentiated blob the DOT lights put out. The lights
could stand a brighter bulb to maximize the improvement, though, as i am
running standart wattage due to limitations of stock wiring. The initial and
smaller blob of light put out by DOT bulbs (which is surrounded by a larger
blob of dimmer light) appears to be slightly brighter than the brightness of
the uniform sheet of light put out by the H-4s...based on my observations of
cars driving along side and in front of me on a road that parallels the
ocean....and thus was sufficiently dark for some compairson. I need to see
what they're like out where there are no street lights before i can say how
good they are, though.

p.s. my stock high beam lights have the H-4 stamped in them.
