> And to keep this in perspective, I understand there are around 700 people > on this list. I wonder if even one of us personally knows someone (no > friends of friends) who was attacked while camping or on the road. Volks? What about the mom and her teenage daughter and friend found murdered outside of yosemite last month. They weren't even camping...they stayed at hotels. What about the 12 y.o. girl raped and murdered in a casino restroom last year while on vacation. These crimes happen. Sure, they're statistically low, but they do happen, and with sufficient frequency and devastating results to warrant some common sense precautions. BTW I once camped at an undeveloped campsite where i thought we might be attacked and planned exactly how we would escape and what i would do and palced my weapons at ready reach. |
