I have most of the windows tinted on my Double Cab in what they call "Limosine Black", in fact, every VW and Audi that I own has tinted windows and I would never go without. First of all, get it professionally done. Lifetime garantee, no bubbles etc etc. Reasons why I like the tinting. - idiots following you with high beams on at night don't bother you as much - more private inside as people cannot look through your car - marginal cooling effect in the summer - looks good IMHO Reasons why I don't like tinting - looks like you are a drug dealer (with some types of cars) - people can't see in, so they break in to see what you are hiding (hasn't happened to me yet - knock on wood) - at road blocks police are more liable to ask questions - illegal in some places I also get my front windows "letter boxed" as in a 2" strip on the bottom and a 5" strip on the top. Much better for glare and helps you concentrate on the road. Cost: They did my Double Cab for $150 CAD, which included the rear window and the two side rear windows. This included removing the glass so the tint went under the rubber. At 19:35 31/03/1999 -0600, John Langowski wrote: Hello all, I'm thinking about having the windows tinted in my 84 Westy. I'd like to hear from anyone else who has had it done. He are my questions 1. How much did it cost 2. How noticeable is the cooling effect while camping in the summer time. 3. How does it hold up 4. Was it worth it overall Any and all comments would be appreciated Thanks, John ks, John -- David Marshall - Vanagon List Admin - Quesnel, BC, Canada -- -- 78 VW Rabbit, 80 VW Caddy, 87 Audi 5KSQ, 85 VW Cabriolet -- -- 88 2.0L VW Syncro Double Cab, WANTED: VW / Bombardier Iltis -- -- David's Volkswagen Home Page http://www.volkswagen.org -- -- Fast Forward Autobahn Sport Tuning http://www.fastforward.ca -- -- david@volkswagen.org (pmail) or vanagon@volkswagen.org (list) -- |
