Subject:      86 Vanagon Radiator
Content-Type: multipart/alternative;

Hello,

The seal on the Aluminum/Plastic radiator in my 86 Vanagon has failed once again.

I am looking to replace the radiator with one without the plastic tanks and leaky rubber seal.

Does anyone have any experience with Copper radiators with welded tanks and in particular, is there any problem with running a copper radiator with the aluminum engine and/or the phosphate free coolant ?

I have been quoted $250 US for a Copper rad with welded copper tanks, is this unreasonable?

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks,

Maurizio Penna
